We respond to the previous Comment concerning the evidence for a weak oscillatory structure in the atomic background absorption cross section in x-ray-absorption fine structure (XAFS). We show that improved background calculations which suppress muffin-tin discontinuities still exhibit fine structure comparable to that observed. {copyright} {ital 1996 The American Physical Society.}
