The 4 GeV/c high resolution spectrometers of the CEBAF experimental Hall A require two mirror imaged superconducting quadrupole magnets of cosine 2{theta} configuration. These magnets, built at Saclay, have the following parameters: 300 mm clear bore, 948 mm magnetic length, quadrupole field gradient 8.5 T/m with a 1 {times} 10{sup {minus}3} uniformity. The paper gives an overview of the design and describes construction technology and test results: coil dimensions, harmonics content, gradient measurement.
