We report absolute partial ionization cross sections for the electron-impact ionization and dissociative ionization of the CF{sub x} (x=1-3) free radicals from threshold to 200 eV. The measured partial cross sections for each radical can be combined to yield the total cross section for single ionization of that target. Experimentally determined total single ionization cross sections were compared to predictions (1) from a new additivity rule and (2) from a modified Gryzinski formula which incorporates detailed molecular structure information of the target species. The overall agreement between experimentally determined and calculated single total ionization cross sections was found to be satisfactory for all three free radicals.
