A new layered cuprate (Sm{sub 1.1}Ce{sub 0.9})Ba{sub 2}Sm{sub 2}Cu{sub 2}Ti{sub 2}GaO{sub 16} has been prepared and studied by X-ray powder diffraction. It assumes a body-centered crystal structure with space group 14/mmm and lattice parameters a = 3.8864(2){angstrom}, c = 44.761(2){angstrom}. Atom stacking sequence along c-axis is [(Sm,Ce){sub 2}O{sub 2}](CuO{sub 2})(BaO)(TiO{sub 2})(SmO)(GaO{sub 2})(SmO)(TiO{sub 2})(BaO)(CuO{sub 2})[(Sm,Ce){sub 2}O{sub 2}], where[(Sm,Ce){sub 2}O{sub 2}] is the fluorite-type layer.
