Title: Improved analysis of parity violation at neutron {ital p}-wave resonances of {sup 238}U based on resonance spin assignments

Abstract

We have measured the spins of {ital p}-wave resonances in the reaction of low energy neutrons with {sup 238}U nuclei and used them to reanalyze the parity violation experiment of the TRIPLE Collaboration carried out with this nucleus. The estimate of the root-mean-square matrix element of the parity violation interaction, {ital M}, including a bias correction, is found to be {cflx {ital M}}=0.62{sub {minus}0.20}{sup +0.33}(68{percent} C.L.){sup +0.88}{sub {minus}0.33}(95{percent} C.L.) meV. The spin assignments of the resonances improved the analysis. {copyright} {ital 1996 The American Physical Society.}
