Synthesis, structure, and reactivity of allene complexes of the chiral rhenium fragment [({eta}{sup 5}-C{sub 5}H{sub 5})Re(NO)(PPh{sub 3})]{sup +}

Reactions of the chlorobenzene complex [({eta}{sup 5}-C{sub 5}H{sub 5})Re(NO)(PPh{sub 3})(ClC{sub 6}H{sub 5})]{sup +}BF{sub 4}{sup -} and excess (a) allene, (b) methylallene, and (c) 1,1-dimethylallene give the {pi} adducts [({eta}{sup 5}-C{sub 5}H{sub 5})Re(NO)(PPh{sub 3})({eta}{sup 2}-H{sub 2}C{double_bond}C{double_bond}CRR{prime})]{sup +}BF{sup -}(1a-c) in 90-91% yields. 35 refs., 1 fig., 4 tabs.
