Sour resistant 13% Cr martensitic stainless steel OCTG (Oil Country Tubular Goods) with high CO{sub 2}-corrosion resistance was developed. Additions of Cu and Ni in combination with an addition of Mo resulted in improved corrosion performance. CO{sub 2}-corrosion rates were studied at various chloride ion concentration levels and at various temperatures. Microstructural observation revealed that the corrosion film of the 13% Cr with combined additions of Cu and Ni is amorphous, which is supposed to be the mechanism for the high corrosion resistance. Sulfide stress cracking (SSC) resistance was also studied as functions of pH and H{sub 2}S partial pressure. It was found that SSC occurrence can be predicted by comparing the pitting potential with sulfur reduction potential. Finally the advantages of the newly developed 13% Cr OCTG are presented from the view points of high strength, high temperature and sour applications.
