Luminescence methods that exhibit a number of advantages such as a high sensitivity, rapidity, relative accessibility, and economy were developed mainly for determining individual rare-earth elements (REE) in especially pure materials. Examples of their use for the analysis of geological and technogenic objects are few in number and generally are of a qualitative nature. To a certain degree, this is associated with the fact that in the bases that ensure high quantum yields of the f-f-luminescence of REE ions (phosphor crystals, suspensions of the residue of complexes, etc), which is used for the analysis, one observes a strong mutual effect of them (the processes of quenching, luminescence sensitization, etc.) that lowers the sensitivity, accuracy, and reliability of these methods in application to complex multicomponent systems. The present paper is devoted to the development of a rapid procedure for determining Ce, Pr, and Tb in rocks and also in the products of processing them. The procedure involves the following stages: acid decomposition of the sample, isolation of the sum total of the REE by the method of {open_quotes}precipitation of oxalates,{close_quotes} and measurement of the f-d-luminescence of Ce and Pr and the f-f-luminescence of Tb directly in the solution obtained after the isolation of the sum total of the REE.
