Attosecond hard x-ray pulses from the LCLS are focused to nanometer-sized spots using an advanced Kirkpatrick Baez mirror system. Peak intensity at the focal point exceeds 1019 W/cm2, enabling a suite of damage-free nonlinear x-ray spectroscopy.
