Oglethorpe Power Corporation (OPC) is a Generation and Transmission Cooperative in the state of Georgia. It faces stiff competition in a marketplace that has had limited retail wheeling since 1974. It recently developed a Real-Time Pricing (RTP) rate to support its local Member Systems in response to an aggressive competitor`s RTP rate. OPC initially developed a pilot RTP rate to differentiate the Member Systems. After customer feedback, it further refined and simplified the rate -- and developed a menu of RTP options. One key change was a move away from revenue reconciliation by individual customer, which customers said they did not like. Recently, OPC has restructured which may further influence the RTP rates offered by local Member Systems in Georgia.
