Gasification of Coal/Plastic Mixtures: Fundamental Studies in a Laminar Entrained Flow Reactor

Conference ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/2525447· OSTI ID:2525447
There is interest in leveraging entrained-flow coal gasification for co-processing plastic waste. However interactions between plastic and coal, particularly possible competition between coal volatiles and plastic vapors for oxygen, are not well understood. This study explores co-gasification of pulverized coal and plastic granules in a lab-scale entrained-flow reactor. Conversion and CO/CO2 ratio are given special attention.
