Photoexcitation of {sup 189}Os{sup {ital m}} and {sup 193}Ir{sup {ital m}}. II. Excitation by {sup 137}Cs and {sup 60}Co {gamma} rays

Photoexcitation of 5.84 h {sup 189}Os{sup {ital m}} and 10.6 d {sup 193}Ir{sup {ital m}} was observed using high activity {sup 137}Cs and {sup 60}Co sources for irradiation. The highly converted weak isomeric transitions were detected by large area 2{pi} multiwire proportional chambers. Determining resonance photon flux densities with Monte Carlo simulation, isomer excitation cross sections integrated over identified activation levels were evaluated and level half-lives were derived.
