Nuclear effects in high {ital p}{sub {ital T}} production of neutral mesons and direct photons

We report results from Fermilab experiment E706 on nuclear target effects in the production of {pi}{sup 0} and {eta} mesons, direct photons, and massive jet and pion pairs at large transverse momenta. The data are presented for 515 GeV/c {pi}{sup {minus}} beam incident on Be and Cu targets over the kinematic regions of 4{lt}{ital p}{sub {ital T}}{lt}10 GeV/c and rapidity {vert_bar}{ital y}{vert_bar}{lt}0.75. The {pi}{sup 0} and {eta} yields are compared with NLL QCD calculations using recent parton distribution and fragmentation functions. {copyright} {ital 1995} {ital American} {ital Institute} {ital of} {ital Physics}.
