A measurement of B baryon lifetime

In a sample of 450,000 Z{sup 0}{r_arrow}q{bar q} events collected with the ALEPH detector at LEP, the average lifetime of b baryons has been studied. The signal is isolated using {Lambda}-lepton correlations in semileptonic decays of b baryons, and the lifetime of the b baryons is extracted from the lepton impact parameters. The lifetime of b baryon is measured to be 1.12{sub {minus}0.29}{sup +0.32}(stat) {+-} 0.16(syst) ps. Updated results using data recorded in 1992 with a silicon vertex detector shall also be presented.
