This paper presents the effect of axial deformation on the equilibrium configuration of marine cables. Numerical computation of this study for the case of specified top tension is based on the hybrid formulation presented previously. It is found that, for a given top tension, the displacement as well as strained arc length increase with the decrease of extensibility parameter. From the parametric study of varying top tension, the effect of axial deformation for the case of specified unstrained arc length can also be obtained. The results of this case show that the displacement as well as strained arc length increase with the increase of extensibility parameter.
