This conference was held April 20--22, 1994 in Kansas City, Missouri. The purpose of the conference was to provide a forum for exchange of state-of-the-art information on the issues surrounding the permitting of boilers and various industrial furnaces that thermally treat hazardous waste. These issues involve regulatory compliance under waste management and air quality programs in the US and other countries, technical evaluations of facility performance in minimizing emissions and health impacts, and innovative continuous monitoring approaches. Attention is focused on emerging EPA policies on waste minimization and combustion and also multi-pathway risk assessment. Individual papers have been processed separately for inclusion in the appropriate data bases.
