The falling current - voltage characteristics of the DC glow discharge positive column were theoretically found by V. Privalov, who used hydrodynamical assumption with the purpose of studying ion spatial charge influence upon charge particle flows onto the discharge tube wall. The results of the calculation demonstrate that the longitudinal electric field intensity increases appreciably with the current reduction if pr{sub 0} < 0.5 Torr {sm_bullet} cm, where p is gas pressure, r{sub 0} - discharge channel radius. In this case the electron energy distribution function is non-local. Consequently a hydrodynamical assumption is not suitable for a quantity description of plasma. In the present work there has been studied the influence of spatial charge in the positive column upon low temperature plasma instability by means of non-local theory. There has been executed a quantity comparison of theoretical and experimental results for DC helium glow discharge in the narrow tube.
