The Hot Fuel Examination Facility/North (HFEF/N) is a modern hot-cell facility for handling and examining irradiated materials. It provides: two heavily-shielded hot cells (one of which contains an inert-gas atmosphere); supporting laboratories and facilities; equipment for post-irradiation handling and examination of nuclear fuels; fuel-element cladding; and other reactor materials being developed for the Liquid Metal Fast Breeder Reactor (LMFBR) Program.
