Session 078 - Panel: Start-Up of Three Major DOE Treatment Facilities -SWPF, IWTU and DFLAW (2/2) (R2.4)

This panel focused on the successes and challenges of the DOE High-Level radioactive tank waste management program, with an emphasis on the completion of construction and startup of three major treatment facilities - the Salt Waste Processing Facility (SWPF) at Savannah River, the Integrated Waste Treatment Unit (IWTU) at Idaho, and Direct Feed Low-Activity Waste (DFLAW) processing at Hanford. As a companion to Session 23, DOE managers and federal project directors discussed the status of facility startup efforts from a federal management and oversight perspective, highlighting readiness planning, challenges and lessons learned.
