Reportedly, over 50% and in some industries up to 80% of the corporate knowledge is embedded and synthesized in peoples' heads, when people quit or retire, the knowledge they possess goes with them. The challenge and opportunity is to enable knowledge sharing while the employee is still with their organization. There are numerous articles, essays and studies about the importance of employee engagement but very few studies have looked at its effect on knowledge sharing. This paper identifies the issue and offers ideas on how to increase organizational knowledge sharing by increasing trust and engagement among employees. (authors)
