The effects of different prestraining and preaging on the mechanical properties of automobile plane Al-1.02%Mg-0.93%Si alloys after 2 weeks of natural aging and plane baking treatment were investigated by Vickers hardness and tensile tests. The results showed that prestraining subsequent preaging simultaneously inhibited natural aging and enhanced the plane baking treatment. Differential scanning calorimetry and transmission electron microscopy analyses revealed the effectiveness of dislocation introduced by prestraining. The interaction between dislocation, quenched-in vacancies, solute atoms and precipitates was discussed, and the influence of these mechanisms on strength and formability was investigated.
