The reaction of the divalent ruthenium complexes [Cp{sup F}RuCl]{sub n} and [Cp{sup F}Ru(MeCN){sub 3}]PF{sub 6} with substituted pentafulvenes 1,2-(Me{sub 2}NCH)(CO{sub 2}Et)C{sub 5}H{sub 3} and 1,3-(Me{sub 2}NCH)(CO{sub 2}Et)- C{sub 5}H{sub 3} followed by hydrolysis affords new homoannular disubstituted ruthenocenes {1,2- (CO_2Et)(CHO)C_5H_3}RuCp{sup F} and {1,3-(CO_2Et)(CHO)C_5H_3}RuCp{sup F} (Cp{sup F} = C{sub 5}Me{sub 4}CF{sub 3}), re- spectively.
