In this article we propose a simple mechanism through which elementary excitations in spin ice, namely magnetic monopoles, lead to spontaneous macroscopic electric polarization through breaking of space inversion symmetry in the spin configuration. We show either the direction or the magnitude of associated electric polarization vector can be conserved in hopping, but both cannot be simultaneous constant of motion, while magnetic charge is constant throughout its movement. A plausible explanation for abnormally large time scale of relaxation for some monopoles reported by Giblin is also demonstrated.
