Performance and technical particulars of the double runner Francis turbines

The paper presents the feedback of common experience of a public utility and a turbine manufacturer on the design and operation of double runner Francis turbines. It compares the double runner Francis turbine with the single runner Francis turbine in terms of efficiency and maintenance. It emphasizes also various advantages of the double runner Francis turbine solution in adaptability to existing sites and capacity to operate at partial loads.
