Thermodynamic properties and phase equilibria in the system CaO-SiO{sub 2}-Al{sub 2}O{sub 3}

Information on thermodynamic properties and phase equilibria in the system CaO-SiO{sub 2}-Al{sub 2}O{sub 3} is important for simulation of geochemical processes, for ceramic, glass, and refractory technologies, and metallurgy. A Knudsen effusion technique combined with a mass-spectrometric analysis of evaporated products has been applied to determine thermodynamic properties of the CaO-SiO{sub 2}-Al{sub 2}O{sub 3} system. Gibbs energies of formation of all intermediate compounds and melted mixtures have been obtained. A model based on the associated-solution theory was proposed for description of thermodynamic properties of liquid solutions in wide ranges of temperature and concentrations.
