Relative contributions of several cathodic reactions to the anodic dissolution of electrogalvanized steel

Zero-resistance ammeter (ZRA) measurements and a 2{sup 3} full-factorial statistical experimental design were used to determine the effects of pH, oxygen, and red rust on the cathodic half-cell reaction on corroding electrogalvanized steel. Analysis of variance indicated that the red rust reduction reaction was dominant. The recently developed galvanic corrosion-mechanical wedging model for underfilm corrosion of painted galvanized steel was supported.
