Hollow fiber ultrafilters have been used to isolate natural humic and fulvic acids from surface waters. The materials were then characterized as to the associated metals and radionuclides. In most cases, the fulvic acids in the smallest size ranges were determined to be the most active binding agents of inorganic pollutants.
