In this paper we report on an experimental and theoretical study of quasimolecular absorption of Xe-He and Kr-He collision pairs near the Xe (5p{sup 6} {sup 1}S{sub 0}-5p{sup 5}6s {sup 1,3}P{sub 1}) and Kr (4p{sup 6} {sup 1}S{sub 0}-4p{sup 5}5s {sup 1,3}P1) resonance transitions.
