Crystalline mixed hafnium-titanium phosphates Hf{sub x}Ti{sub (1-x)} (HPO{sub 4}){sub 2}.H{sub 2}O,(Hf{sub x}Ti{sub (1-x)}P) where x=0.93, 0.87 and 0.79 have been prepared by the HF method in plastic container as already reported. Here, the authors are reporting the preparation of flexible pellicles (thin films) of mixed hafnium-titanium phosphates, (where x=0.93, 0.87 and 0.79), by a process of intercalation-deintercalation of propylamine in mixed hafnium-titanium phosphates. The authors have found that on intercalation of 0.1M aqueous solution of propylamine ({approximately}50% loading) in a given crystalline mixed hafnium-titanium phosphates result in the formation of flexible thin films of Hf{sub x}Ti{sub (1-x)} P-propylamine on filtration on porous plastic filter. Deintercalation of Hf{sub x}Ti{sub (1-x)}P-propylamine in aqueous solution at 15{degrees}C followed by filtration on a porous plastic filter gives flexible pellicles of mixed Hf{sub x}Ti{sub (1-x)}(HPO{sub 4}){sub 2}.H{sub 2}O.
