A new generalized Child-Langmuir law

A new highly reliable generalization of the Child-Langmuir law is presented. We consider a plane diode as schematically shown in Fig.1. Electrons are emitted from the hot cathode and, depending on the external parameters (interelectrode distance x{sub d}, initial electron density n{sub 0}, temperature T, and diode voltage V{sub d}) can either reach the anode or are reflected back due to the space-charge electric field (curves A - D).
