Various processes have been proposed previously to study a{sub 0}{sup 0}(980)-f{sub 0}(980) mixing through the f{sub 0}(980){yields}a{sub 0}{sup 0}(980) transition. Here we investigate in detail the difference between a{sub 0}{sup 0}(980){yields}f{sub 0}(980) and f{sub 0}(980){yields}a{sub 0}{sup 0}(980) transitions. It is found that the a{sub 0}{sup 0}(980){yields}f{sub 0}(980) transition can provide additional constraints to the parameters of a{sub 0}{sup 0}(980) and f{sub 0}(980) mesons. A proposal is made to study a{sub 0}{sup 0}(980)-f{sub 0}(980) mixing from the {chi}{sub c1}{yields}{pi}{sup 0}a{sub 0}{sup 0}(980){yields}{pi}{sup 0}f{sub 0}(980) reaction at the upgraded Beijing electron positron collider with the BESIII detector.
