EPA self-audit enforcement policy gets mixed reviews from industry

After nine months of reexamining its enforcement policy toward companies` environmental self-audits, EPA has crafted a policy that industry says is a halfway measure that fails to address some of its most important concerns. Companies have long complained about the unfairness of being penalized for voluntarily disclosing results of their internal environmental self-audits. While the states have developed laws to protect them, EPA has resisted granting such protection.
