Search for Σc → Λcπ using Λc → Σsππ in 250 GeV π--nucleon interactions

Combined cross section times branching fraction limits are given for Σc++ → Λc+π+ and Σc0 → Λc+π- where Λc+ → Σs±π±π+. The Λc+ is reconstructed with partial information on the Σs; the missing Σs momentum is established through momentum conservation imposed by a constrained fit. The data are of π- beam interactions at 250 GeV from Fermilab experiment E769.
