Electrochemical synthesis and thermolysis of acetylaceonate dysprosium (III) complex

Tris(acetylacetonate) dysprosium(III) complex Dy(acac){sub 3}{center_dot}0.5(Hacac) has been prepared by electrolysis of an ethanolic solution of acetylacetone (Hacac) at a dysprosium anode. On heating, this complex successively splits off Hacac and EtOH, yielding Dy(acac){sub 3}{center_dot}(EtOH) and Dy(acac){sub 3}. The complexes obtained have been characterized by elemental analyses, IR and mass spectra, and thermogravimetric data. 7 refs., 1 fig., 2 tabs.
