Oxidation dissolution of metallic yttrium in organic systems containing acetylacetone (HAcac) as a main component is studied. Yttrium dissolving in HAcac and in binary HAcac mixtures with acetone (Ac), ether, dioxane, and acetonitrile results in the formation of a complex of formula YAcac{sub 3}{center_dot}2H{sub 2}O. In HAcac systems with 2,2-dipyridyl (Dipy), pyridine (Py), dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), dimethylformamide (DMF), 2-pyrrolidone (P), and acetic acid (CH{sub 3}COOH) the following compounds are generated, respectively: YAcac{sub 3}{center_dot}H{sub 2}O{center_dot}1/2Dipy, YAcac{sub 3}{center_dot}H{sub 2}O{center_dot}Py, YAcac{sub 3}{center_dot}H{sub 2}O{center_dot}DMSO, YAcac{sub 3}{center_dot}5/3H{sub 2}O{center_dot}1/3DMF, YAcac{sub 3}{center_dot}5/3H{sub 2}O{center_dot}1/3P, and Y(CH{sub 3}COO){sub 3}{center_dot}2H{sub 2}O. IR spectroscopy confirms the presence of water molecules in the compounds. Thermogravimetric analysis shows that the complexes do not sublimiate at heating, and, at T>300{degrees}C, their destruction proceeds with the formation of yttrium oxide as the ultimate product of thermolysis.
