India still lagging potential as major player on world energy markets

This paper summarizes the activities currently underway in India to try and close the gap between the consumption and production of oil and natural gas. It makes predictions in the per capita energy consumption into the next century and contrasts this with current production and refining capacity in the country. The paper provides tables of refinery capacities, pipeline capacities, maps showing locations of pipelines and refineries, and data on proposed expansions. It then identifies the constraints being placed on the industry to limit foreign investment and development of these resources.
