Research on computational methods for assemblies with gadolinium burnable poisons

Journal Article · · Transactions of the American Nuclear Society
OSTI ID:186693
There are many programs for assemblies on boiling water reactors and pressurized water reactors. Due to the very high absorption occurring in gadolinium-loaded fuel pins, the applicabilities of the normal light-water spectral programs require verification. Monte Carlo simulations are normally used as a reference analysis. The MCNP-3A code with ENDF/B-V is one of them. A problem is how to evaluate the effects of different methods and different treatments. Some comparisons for a benchmark problem are given in this paper.
