Currently the {open_quotes}ionizing radiation protection standards{close_quotes} in most countries around the world are established by referring to reports of ICRP Pub.26 & 30 as the most important technical documents. In ICRP Pub.26 the experts emphasise that their major task is to establish a set of complete and reasonable radiation protection limiting system. But the emphasis in the report of ICRP Pub.60 published in 1991 is devoted to the expanding of the dose limiting system which was developed in 1977 to a more extensive radiological protection system. The main contents of this paper is to make comparative discussion of the major differences between ICRP Pub.26 and ICRP Pub.60 and hope that my personal view can solicit the interest of our professional colleagues in radiation protection to study ICRP Pub.60 and be helpful in the revision task of amending regulations in the future.
