In this study we investigate the modes of operation, dynamics and pressure oscillation statistics of a 6 inch RDE operated with axial air slot injection and rear-facing angled fuel injection from a contraction (pintle injection). The RDE exhibits two primary modes of operation for this injection scheme, termed detonation and deflagration modes. Using high speed static pressure measurements a variety of wave pressure statistics are constructed from both operation modes over a range of air mass fluxes and equivalence ratios. The condensed information is then used to contrast differences in the modes of operation as well as to assess the behavior of the primary mode of interest, the detonation mode.
