Black Holes: Connecting Theory and Simulation to Observation [Slides]

Technical Report ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/1765857· OSTI ID:1765857
Agenda: Review the relevant basics of black holes and black hole astrophysics. Discuss the underlying principles and methodology behind simulating infalling plasma, along with recent advances. Show how we generate synthetic X-ray spectra starting from simulation data. Connect these X-ray spectra to real observations. What are the current challenges facing this technique, and how might they be resolved?
