Elastic fields around cylindrical inhomogeneities or their interaction with defects have been a topic of considerable research. The simplest forms starting from the interaction between regular shaped inclusions and dislocations could be developed stage by stage up to complex inhomogeneities and crack interactions. In this study the interaction between a cylindrical crack in homogeneous medium and coaxially located rigid cylindrical inclusion is analyzed. The solution is based on the interaction between a ring dislocation and rigid cylindrical inclusion. Once the stress field is obtained for the dislocation inclusion case using the superposition method, two approaches are proposed. One is to model the crack by a pair of superdislocation, the other one is to solve a pair of singular integral equation to obtain the exact form of solution. Considering simplicity and accuracy of a pair of superdislocation that is shown in for modeling the cylindrical crack, the first approach is suggested for the case of interaction of many cracks and inclusions. The second one is the exact formulation, however the solution process is longer making it hard to apply for the interaction models leading to global constitutive equation. The present method is expected to lay the ground for the future studies in establishing more complicated models for more realistic analysis of the interaction problems.
