ScZrZn2 crystallizes in the orthorhombic Immm space group. The structure is one-dimensional and consists of two ScZrZn2 ribbons oriented in the (1, 0, 0) direction. Sc is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent Zn atoms. Both Sc–Zn bond lengths are 2.82 Å. Zr is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent Zn atoms. Both Zr–Zn bond lengths are 2.81 Å. Zn is bonded in a linear geometry to one Sc and one Zr atom.
