SrAu2Cd crystallizes in the orthorhombic Immm space group. The structure is one-dimensional and consists of two SrAu2Cd ribbons oriented in the (1, 0, 0) direction. Sr is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent Au atoms. Both Sr–Au bond lengths are 2.87 Å. Au is bonded in a linear geometry to one Sr and one Cd atom. The Au–Cd bond length is 2.92 Å. Cd is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent Au atoms.
