V2WAl crystallizes in the orthorhombic Immm space group. The structure is one-dimensional and consists of two V2WAl ribbons oriented in the (0, 1, 0) direction. V is bonded in a linear geometry to one W and one Al atom. The V–W bond length is 2.79 Å. The V–Al bond length is 2.71 Å. W is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent V atoms. Al is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent V atoms.
