MoRu2Zn crystallizes in the orthorhombic Immm space group. The structure is one-dimensional and consists of two MoRu2Zn ribbons oriented in the (1, 0, 0) direction. Mo is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent Ru atoms. Both Mo–Ru bond lengths are 2.10 Å. Ru is bonded in a linear geometry to one Mo and one Zn atom. The Ru–Zn bond length is 2.63 Å. Zn is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent Ru atoms.
