Recovery of uranium from carnotite ores. Final report
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:166895
The existing plants and processes used for treating westerncarnotite ores were developed to give the maximum recovery of vanadium. In order to establish the conditions required for maximum uranium recovery, research was conducted on the roasting and leaching of representative ores. The precipitation of the uranium from carbonate solutions, the effects of extraneous elements in salt roasting, and the effects of aging of calcines were also investigated. New methods of ore treatment were explored. Although the behavior of vanadium was not studied in this process, a few data are given which show the recovery of vanadium possible under the conditions favorable for the extraction of uranium.
