A direct quark mechanism for the {Lambda}{ital N}{r_arrow}{ital NN} decay is proposed within the nonrelativistic 6-quark model of two-baryon systems. Calculated decay rates and asymmetry parameters do not agree quite well with the experimental data, which invites more refined calculations to be done.
