Lithium triborate (LBO), a nonlinear optical crystal characterized by high radiation resistance (up to 25 GW/cm{sup 2}) and a wide transmittance region (from 0.16 to 3.5 {mu}m), is used for frequency conversion in the visible and UV regions. No information has been reported to date on liquidus relations in the Li{sub 2}O-B{sub 2}O{sub 3}-LiF ternary system. Therefore, the objective of this work was to more accurately determine the liquidus temperature in the Li{sub 2}B{sub 6}O{sup 10}-LiF-B{sub 2}O{sub 3} ternary system using the vibrational phase analysis (VPA) method developed by A.B. Kaplun.
