Microporous glasses are obtained by complete leaching of two-network alkali borosilicate glasses with 0.1 - 3 M HCl at 20 - 100{degrees}C. The shadow graph indicates that leaching at 50{degrees}C produces microporous glasses of a more homogeneous structure. This feature is observed in all the acid-leached glasses studied, regardless of the acid concentration. The results were interpreted on the basis of the following parameters (i) the effect of the fraction and hydration degree of crystalline borate phases, formed within the porous layer during ft preparation of microporous glass, on the degree of the surface hydration of SiO{sub 2} particles; and (ii) the effect alkalization of the solution inside the pores has on the rate of dissolution of SiO{sub 2} and the subsequent gel formation (deposition in the form of strata).
