DeepStar committees tackle myriad of challenges
This paper reviews the Phase 2A results from the DeepStar drilling and exploration project in the deep water areas of the Gulf of Mexico. The Phase 2A is the completion of detailed technical studies identified in Phase 1 to be of common interest to the oil and gas industry. Ten committees have been developed as part of this review. This paper provides the summary findings from the following areas: offshore drill positioning and moorings; production fluid problems; multiphase flow and equipment; regulatory issues; subsea control systems; deepwater production risers; flowlines and umbilicals; drilling and completion; manifolds, trees, and connections systems; reservoir characterization and performance; and a brief look into DeepStar Phase 3.
